Duties and Responsibilities:

 Study Planning and Design:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define the scope and objectives of Studies for proposed capital or closure projects.
  • Participate in business case development. Analyse business needs and provides input into the development of practical solutions to difficult problems.
  • Develop comprehensive study plans, outlining methodologies, data requirements, and analysis techniques.
  • Support compliance with standardised Study processes, systems and tools across Study.
  • Assist in driving improvements within the Study. Provide suggestions to the team on improvements to Study (project) delivery methods.
  • Provides project support services across a range of studies on a day to day basis.
  • Oversee study contractors/consultants to ensure the delivery of studies within agreed timelines, scope, cost, and quality criteria.

Study Analysis:

  • Oversee the assessment of project Order of Magnitude (OOM) and Prefeasibility, including technical viability, operational impact, regulatory compliance, and potential risks.
  • Coordinate with subject matter experts to gather relevant data and insights for accurate study evaluations.
  • Lead the development of preliminary cost estimates for capital projects, considering construction, equipment
  • labor, materials, and other relevant expenses. Ensure cost estimates are realistic, accurate, and aligned with industry benchmarks. Prepare cost estimates for proposed projects, if necessary.
  • Identify and evaluate potential risks and uncertainties associated with proposed projects, developing strategies to mitigate and manage these risks.
  • Collaborate with financial experts to perform high-level financial analyses, including cash flow projections, return on investment (ROI), and net present value (NPV) calculations.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Engage with key stakeholders, including project sponsors, asset owners, and cross-functional teams, to gather input, share findings, provide relevant updates, and gain buy-in for project recommendations.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop and implement an effective stakeholder engagement plan through the life of the Study. Manage relationships with key Study stakeholders.
  • Work with appropriate groups where required to exchange information and resources.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations summarizing the results of the Studies, including OOM,
  • Prefeasibility assessments, cost estimates, and risk profiles.
  • Monitor and report all relevant Study performance indicators to meet business requirements.
  • Identify and escalate any Study (project) delivery performance issues in a timely manner.
  • Compile and analyse data for management reporting and metrics. 

Continuous Improvement: 

  • Proactively identify opportunities to refine study methodologies, enhance accuracy in cost estimation, and improve decision-making processes. 

Project Portfolio Management: 

  • Assist in prioritizing and selecting capital projects based on the outcomes of OOM and Prefeasibility Studies, contributing to the overall strategic project portfolio.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferable in Civil, HVAC, Mechanical engineering), or a related field
  • Proven experience in managing studies, especially capital project studies 
  • Experience in the engineering studies, construction, and manufacturing.  
  • Familiarity with engineering and construction regulations, compliance standards, and best practices. 
  • Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with project teams, cross-functional teams, and stakeholders, and influence. 
  • Solid understanding of project management methodologies and tools 
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively. 
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a strategic mindset. 
  • Experience with SharePoint, Microsoft Excel, project management software, Power BI analysis and reporting tools
  • 3-5 years of experience in study and project management, with a focus on capital projects 
  • At least 3 years relevant experience, or otherwise the significant practical experience and on-the-job training
  • Fluency in English is an advantage 
  • Ability to work in achieving tight deadlines in a high-pressure environment
