We are hiring a Geologist Structural





Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Actively participate in all HSEC related activities and demonstrate commitment to established standards through actions of self and encouraging positive behaviour in others. 
  • Day-to-day coordination of open-pit geological functions including:
    • Pit geological mapping, and sampling.
    • Grade control activities including blast hole logging, definition of ore-waste boundaries and ore grade estimation.
    • Review and adjustment of ore mark-up in pit to ensure correct and clear delineation of the resource for mining purposes
    • Assist in the identification of high risk areas and development of processes to mitigate such risks
    • Work with others to ensure successful completion of reports on geologically related mining activities for internal and external (e.g. government reporting) use in a timely manner.
    • Developing skills in regular updating of the geological, resource, and geometallurgical model and documentation of any key deviations from the plan.
    • Participate in reviews and presentations of potential projects.
  • Build a working knowledge of systems that ensure that mine geology data and documents are properly managed throughout the resource custodianship and that the most updated and complete version is stored in an accessible and secure infrastructure.
  • Participate in reconciliation issues (i.e. modelled grade and recoveries versus actual grade and recoveries) by working closely with the geology, mining, and metallurgical teams.
  • Identifying best practice through experience, diverse learning opportunities, and develop work processes to implement such best practices. 
  • Collaborate with own team and peers in the mine environment to ensure effective application and dissemination of best practice.
  • Keep abreast of developments within the field of open pit mining geology and utilise this information to facilitate the on-going development of the programmes for further discovery.
  • Deliver within the work areas to achieve individual and organisational success through collaboration and understanding and embracing the values 
  • Maintain a high degree of professionalism and business ethics.
  • Promote the company’s reputation within the industry and government as a preferred partner by clear demonstration of corporate technical ability, economic credibility and commitment to sustainability.
  • Recognise the business drivers for a successful open pit operation in a mine operation and how geology plays an integral role in such success.

Requirement:

  • Undergraduate or equivalent or higher education obtained through degrees or diplomas from academic college or universities.
  • Geosciences or related disciplines
  • At least 3 years relevant experience, or otherwise the significant practical experience and on the job training.

Contract term: 8 months
