We are hiring a Senior Engineer Mechanical





Duties and responsibilities:

Health , Safety & Environment   (20%)

  • Role-model the OT HSE values and practices. Assist others to do the same Participate in the planning of projects to optimize HSE results. 
  • Participate in the promotion of safety as work culture through personal awareness and accountability in workplace and at home.
  • Attend daily safety morning meeting.
  • Support the implementation of Health, Safety, Environment & Quality standards for the areas under operates responsibility
  • Ensures safe operates practices, systems, & processes are established & comply with Mongolian & Rio Tinto HSEQ policies/standards, JHA’s, & safe work procedures.

Engineering  (40%)

  • Creating and improving mechanical systems, components, and devices. This includes using CAD software to develop detailed designs and prototypes
  • Create detailed mechanical systems and components according to project specifications and requirements.
  • Conduct simulations, prototyping, and testing to validate designs and ensure functionality. 
  • Review and update existing mechanical and fire protection systems to improve efficiency or comply with new regulations.
  • Advanced skills in specialized software such as AutoCAD, Solidwork for mechanical stress analysis.
  • Thorough understanding of local and international codes and standards (e.g., ASME, ASTM, NFPA) and the ability to ensure designs comply with these regulations.
  • Hands-on experience with site installation and the ability to oversee and verify the installation of mechanical systems.
  • Expertise in designing systems that prioritize safety and comply with regulatory safety standards.
  • Collects & evaluates data, & develops plans for assignments that may involve design application.
  • Conducts simple equipment failure investigation & mitigation. 
  • Ensures safe operates practices, systems, & processes are established & comply with Mongolian & Rio Tinto HSEQ policies/standards, JHA’s, & safe work procedures.
  • Provide Engineering Support including design drawings, new technology implementation from the other mine sites or across the world. 
  • Perform the specific testing and calibration. 
  • Collects and conducts preliminary analysis of data. 

RCA/DE (10%)

  • Solve a range of straightforward problems guided by defined procedures and solutions .
  • Conduct an analysis of reliability problems and investigate to determine the correct method for improvement. Use Practical Problem Solving methods (Fishbone, 5 Whys, cause and effect diagram). Continuously improve own experience and knowledge and gather knowledge of advanced problem-solving methods (Fault tree, Taproot, Apollo, etc.).

Tactic (10%):

  • Improve experience and knowledges by developing maintenance tactics as per the asset management guidelines .
  • Provide technical support in the review of O & M programs to achieve high level of reliability and continuity of electrical/mechanical service.
  • Familiarization with a carrying-out diagnostic tests and condition based monitoring based on maintenance tactic 

Cost& Projects, MOC (20%)

  • Develop Design Criteria: Establish project: Specific requirements and ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Prepare Engineering Scopes of Work: Define clear and detailed scopes of engineering service providers (ESP) to follow.
  • Conduct Technical Evaluations: Assess the technical feasibility and cost-effectiveness of proposed designs.
  • Manage ESP Engagements & Performance: Manage and evaluate engineering service providers for individual scopes, including adherence to contracts and performance benchmarks.
  • Act as Liaison: Facilitate communication and coordination between the core team and external entities in engineering service matters.
  • Ensure Conformance to Standards: Regularly check that all internal work complies with company and regulatory standards.
  • Oversee Engineering Deliverables: Manage the review and delivery of accurate engineering documents and drawings.
  • Facilitate Value Engineering: Facilitate the value engineering process to deliver capital effectiveness and fill for purpose design.
  • Perform Design Reviews: Technically review engineering drawings from external consultants for compliance with design criteria requirements before issuing them for construction.
  • Resolve Technical Queries: Promptly address and solve any issues arising during project execution related to technical aspects.
  • Quality Assurance: Review QA documents before/during implementation - ITP's. Attend FAT/SAT as required, ensuring adherence to quality standards.
  • Commissioning Planning: Develop commissioning tasks and participate in commissioning as required.
  • Coaching: Specialist Engineers will coach and mentor Project Engineers as required to develop talent.
  • Actively participate the CAPEX and OPEX, risk elimination projects to develop a design and calculation.
  • Learning and gaining the best practice of project implementation based on Mongolian, RT and International standards.
  • Gather experiences on MOC by supporting to Senior or Experienced Reliability engineers on reliability improvement projects through the change management process.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Engineer above a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineer or equivalent
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Engineer with at least 5 years of experience  in mechanical design and development and equivalent. Experience in simulation system, including thermodinamics and mechanical systems calculation, design work, and proven experience in  the mining or industrial sector for check the design. 
  • Works on Autocad, Microsoft office, Microsoft project, Solidworks and other widely used applications.                                              
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion and adherence to project specifications.
  • Proficiency in English is essential for effective communication and documentation.

 

Contract term: 7 month
