The purpose of this role is to provide engineering services and support on systems activities of the functional area in line with the company policies and procedures to achieve the team's objectives and targeted plan.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Analyze server and storage requirements provided by users from various areas and provide feedback as to what can be improved/changed
Understanding and complying with all IT policies, standards and procedures
Ensure database and system administration processes are followed as per policies set for each function
Plan and execute software version upgrade releases
Follow regional and global corporate standards and practices
Liase with vendors and support groups
As required, assist IT Operations team with advanced troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues
Systems:
Installing and Configuring ins use windows server OS and other server software/applications.
Attend to helpdesk calls in a timely manner and ensure the calls are closed and the user informed.
Monitor all server / storage / application / Services health through central monitoring tool and resolve all issues (sw/hw). If issue cannot be fixed internally, then escalate to vendor support in a timely manner and follow up to the resolution.
Keep up to date with the new technologies and software products.
Provide technical consultancy as required to projects requiring architecture and design assistance.
Work with various vendors to understand new technologies and products released and feed information to the management and operations team.
Work closely with other IT teams in developing system designs.
Engage with Rio Tinto IS&T Server and Storage team to share knowledge and utilize systems already developed by Rio Tinto thereby avoiding rework.
Understand functional and systems architecture of various technical systems OT LLC will implement
Perform other related duties as required.
Supporting project:
Undertake project related server and storage implementations and proactive capacity analysis
Ensure software projects come in on time and under budget
Work with the project team members and Operational Technology Systems’ members in troubleshooting and identifying fixes for project related system problems and ideas
Document project related server issues and post in the knowledgebase
Other project related technical tasks as requested

Communication skills: Engineer Systems is a part of a team, working with other Engineer Systems, Technical Analysts and Management and thus need to be effective in communications
Attention to details is a key when communicating with vendors, team members, and management. Minor misunderstandings can cause problems in overall end product
Attend and resolve day to day problems related with IT Service Desk
Being able to identify the root cause of the problem and resolve the problem in timely manner. This will require extensive technical knowledge, skills and experience
Being able to identify the need and perform optimization/improvement on various systems
Escalating the problem according to IT Escalation procedure to get the necessary support from the management, vendor support and SME if required

Undergraduate or equivalent or higher education obtained through degrees or diplomas from academic college or universities.
Computing or Information technology or a discipline relevant to the performs function.
At least 5 years relevant experience, or otherwise the significant practical experience and on the job training.
Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) or equivalent/similar.
