The purpose of this role is to provide services and support on activities of the functional area in line with the company policies and procedures to achieve the team's objectives and targeted plan. The primary purpose of the Senior Hydrogeologist is to provide a professional addition to the Environment and Biodiversity department of Environmental team in supervision, monitoring, assessment and reporting of project water resource.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Undertake routine supervision of hydrogeological investigation activities.
Undertake routine monitoring at the points included in Water Monitoring Procedure such as production wells, monitoring bores, herders well, spring, and other related water points.
Chemical and bacteriological water samples to be taken from water points of the OT project area, such as potable, raw, bottled, and domestic water points, water points within the Tailings Storage Facility, Wastewater Treatment Plant, ponds, and springs.
Analyze all collected monitoring data of water level and quality to the environmental data management system.
Present water level, quantity and quality monitoring data in a manner that is clear and understandable.
Assess water monitoring data against predicted changes/impacts and determine where deviations to expectations occur.
Compare, assess, and analyze the water quality data with respective standards of MNS900-2018 and MNS4943-2015.
Undertake field water testing at the required water points and to issue proper management solutions and assessment.
Report water related incidents and non-compliances and to recommend or undertake the actions to rectify.
Undertake professional hydrogeological analysis and assessment of hydrogeological changes associated with project activities.
Prepare routine (quarterly and annual) water monitoring reports that clearly present investigation, monitoring and analysis / assessment result.
Attend meeting with all related stakeholders (e.g., government, local herders, local community) to explain project water resource activities, discuss of water resource, water monitoring and assessments and help to resolve any water resource complaints or issues.
Ensures all work carried out is consistent with the Company’s Safety & Environmental Polices & Standards.
Requirements:
Undergraduate or equivalent or higher education obtained through degrees or diplomas from academic college or universities. Hydrogeology, Geoscience, or other relevant discipline.
At least 5 years relevant experience, or otherwise the significant practical experience and on the job training. Business degree or other commercial experience demonstrating financial acumen.
Root Cause Analysis qualification (Apollo, Taproot or similar)
Mechanical Failure Analysis Training (Caterpillar Advanced Failure Analysis or similar)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Mongolian and English
Good computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft programs
Strong leadership and team building abilities.
Ability to multitask and prioritize multiple issues simultaneously.
