The purpose of the Mechanical engineer role is for a senior employee to advance to a junior management role and to assist the Service Centre Manager in the daily operational management of the workshop, site work and workshop employees developing / growing service business in Mongolia The role requires that in addition to normal production work (direct labour) the Mechanical Engineer undertakes specific tasks and performs supervision of staff (indirect labour) for approximately 40% of their work hours. This ratio may vary to meet operational and customer requirements.
This position provides on the job training to promote the advancement of personnel toward management roles and in gaining valuable experience whilst substituting direct labour hours for indirect supervisory hours within the standard working week. The Service Centre Manager may deputise his authority to the Mechanical engineer when required.
The Mechanical engineer is responsible to ensure safety and quality standards are met and that assigned administrative activities are completed.
Key Accountabilities
• Actively promote a safe work environment and support the safe work system.
• Create inspection (disassembly & assembly) report as per standard and customer requirement
• Perform mechanical repair and refurbishment tasks as required to the highest quality standard.
• Manage workload and direct mechanical trades to execute the work.
• Generate repair scope of works, quality assurance and other documents.
• Generate quote reports and liaise with customers directly.
• Manage vendors to execute external works as required at site and workshop
• Supervise site shutdowns and generate maintenance plans and report for customers based on findings.
• Actively promote 5S and the lean program within the workshop.
• Ensure maintenance and calibrations for workshop equipment are up to date.
• Raise corrective actions for any safety or quality issues and put plans in place to rectify.
• Assist in the training and development of workshop staff. Train people as required
• Assist with Lean implementation, Kaizen and reporting as required.
• Develop inspection and accomplishment reports and quality of documents
• Create plan for jobs and present employees know
• Assist the Service Administrator, Rubber liners and stores as required.
• Ensure all procedures are followed.
• Monitor history of all mechanical job reports and files by soft and hard version
• Take full responsibility for the quality of work
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Ability to be able to apply engineering knowledge for new projects
• Highly organized
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
Professional background
• Bachelor’s degree of Mechanical engineering or above
• Minimum 3 years’ experience
• Good level of English proficiency – Written and verbal
• Experience with AutoCad or SolidWorks
